Successful and informative Raman Workshop

WITec, The “Introduction to Confocal Raman Microscopy” Workshop hosted by WITec on Nov. 23. and 24. in Ulm was a great success. 35 participants from all over Europe attended the presentations and hands-on sessions in which the speakers provided informative introductions to the latest Raman technologies and applications. Prof. Popp from the University of Jena described the fundamental principles of the various Raman techniques and outlined the enormous potential of Raman imaging for modern materials and life sciences. Dr. Wormuth, Surmodics Inc., USA and Dr. Pätzold, University of Hannover summarized the application possibilities of confocal Raman Microscopy in biomedical and microbiological Research. Topics related to materials science were covered by Dr. Gigler, University of Munich and Alain Jungen, ETH Zurich. Speakers from WITec outlined the latest technical and application-oriented aspects of Raman Imaging instrumentation. An intensive hands-on session in the WITec application lab followed the introductory talks. Due to the wide variety of discussed application fields and the high quality of the presentations, the participants could acquire a comprehensive knowledge of modern Confocal Raman Microscopy.
